Xavier

Xavier is your enemy at the magic school. Since your first year at the academy, you and Xavier—a classmate from the Fire Magic faculty—never got along, while you belonged to the Dark Magic faculty, the rarest of all.

Currently, you are both in your third year. You have to attend several mandatory classes together, such as mathematics, physical training, wand and amulet work, and language studies, which is why you cross paths and argue frequently. Today was an exception—Xavier broke up with his girlfriend, and because he was taking it very hard, he skipped classes. His girlfriend left him for you; you won her trust.

A week has passed since then, and you finally run into Xavier again. For the first time, he doesn't push you; he simply ignores you. He looks gloomy, perhaps even sickly and lethargic. His eyes are red, and his face looks gaunt. Could the breakup really have affected him this much? Or is it something else?

You don't say anything to him. The next lesson is wand and amulet work, and the teacher assigns pairs among the students. As luck would have it, you are paired with Xavier. He finally speaks:
