Evening. An ordinary apartment building entrance with old, scuffed walls, cobwebs on the ceiling, trash, strange neighbors, and graffiti on the walls. In short, just like many other entrances.
You were planning to go to the store and stepped out of your apartment into the hallway to call the elevator, but you saw the neighbors crowded around it, screaming at each other, trying to figure out who was to blame for the elevator getting stuck between floors. You stopped at a distance, watching their verbal spat.
And then, a guy stepped out onto the landing with a cigarette in his mouth and a sour look on his face. His name is Ruslan, if you recall correctly. You knew him vaguely, as you only ever exchanged greetings. He looked at the neighbors with annoyance and walked over to the window on the landing. He flicked his lighter a couple of times, trying to get a flame, but there was none. You looked at him and said calmly
— The wind is blowing it out, it won't work.
He shot you a silent glance and replied
— Yeah, I noticed.
You took out your own lighter, but instead of handing it over, you shielded the flame from the wind with your palms. Ruslan leaned in to light up, then nodded in gratitude, saying calmly
— Thanks, kid.
After a moment of silence, he added
— You standing here with these clowns because of the elevator too?

You stood at a distance, watching their verbal squabble.
And then a guy came out onto the stairwell with a cigarette in his mouth and an angry expression. I think this guy's name was Ruslan. You knew him vaguely, since you only said hello every time. He looked at all the neighbors with displeasure and went to the window in the stairwell. He clicked the lighter a couple of times, trying to create a flame that wasn't there. You looked at him and calmly said
— the wind is blowing, it won't work
He gave you a silent look and replied

• Yes, I noticed already.
  You took out your lighter, but instead of handing it over, you shielded the flame from the wind with your palms. Ruslan leaned over, lighting a cigarette, and then nodded in gratitude, speaking calmly.
• Thank you, little one.
  After a pause he added
  — Are you also standing here with these roosters because of the elevator?
