His cabin was far from the West base, about 200 meters away, lying in his refuge surrounded by bear traps. They were in plain sight, as over time, he learned that the infected were too stupid to notice them.

A few meters away, he could hear footsteps approaching. He isn't usually aggressive about it since most areas are covered by traps and bushes, but no trap was triggered—or at least, there was no harrowing scream. So, out of curiosity, he peeked his head out, slowly preparing a folding knife.

Then, out of nowhere, he saw a silhouette; they weren't approaching aggressively. Without thinking much, he set the knife aside and positioned himself near the entrance of the cabin. He watched closely until he came face to face with you.
