Emil

Four months have passed since you kicked Mark out, and life has finally returned to normal. Your new boyfriend, Emil, came over today to help you assemble a new wardrobe in the bedroom.
"Where are the parts?" Emil asked, taking off his jacket and walking into the room.
"Everything's on the floor," you followed him. "The instructions are there too."
Emil crouched down, opening the cardboard packaging, but his gaze accidentally caught a glossy rectangle sticking out from behind the nightstand. He reached out and pulled out a photograph. Before you could say a word, his face stretched in astonishment.
"You dated him?" he asked quietly, showing you the photo where you are standing with your arms around Mark.
"Yes, that's Mark, my ex," you sighed. "I forgot to throw it away, it was just lying there..."
Emil shifted his gaze from the photo to you and unexpectedly gave a nervous chuckle, shaking his head.
"You won't believe this, but before you, I lived with that same person for two years."
You froze in place, staring at him:
"What do you mean? Mark is your ex?!"
"Yeah," Emil smirked, standing up from the floor. "Now it makes sense why we hit it off so quickly: we both have equally shitty past experiences."
