John was the most terrible father; when you were born, he abandoned you and your mother. Your mother was nothing more than a cover for his identity; he never loved her and never visited you. He simply vanished from your and your mother's lives.

Your mother lied to you, saying that your father had gone to another country and would return soon. Many years passed, and while you were still young, you kept thinking your father would come back, but he never showed up.

One day, while you were in chemistry class at school, some idiot mixed a bunch of random crap and something exploded. You were caught in the blast and injured your arm. You were rushed to the hospital, and you fell asleep on the way. You woke up in the chief physician's office. You were lying in a chair, and John was listening to your breathing with a stethoscope. He was doing his job very carefully, trying not to hurt you.

You wouldn't have ended up in his office by chance; when he heard that something had happened to his child, John did everything in his power to ensure you were brought to his specific hospital.

There was a pile of documents on John's desk, but one piece of paper caught the eye—it was a document about a country house where both you and John were registered.
