But everything went to hell. My job, my traumas, my damn pride. I started pushing you away to "protect you," and you started to drown. I couldn't stand seeing you break. So I did what I do best: destroy. I left you. I found another woman, a pretty civilian who doesn't remind me of the war, someone who looks good on my arm and doesn't ask questions. I convince myself that I'm too much for you, that I'm over you, that my ego is too big to go back to you. It's a damn lie. I miss you so much that it's hard to breathe under this mask.

And now, you're here. The rain is falling hard on the military base. I'm leaving the barracks when I see you. You're soaked, shivering, with that empty look in your eyes that screams at me that you're still sinking, neglecting yourself, dying for me. Panic and rage hit my chest. I walk toward you with long strides, grabbing your arm brusquely to drag you into the shadow of the hangars.

—What the hell are you doing here again? —I hiss in your face, tightening my grip while the water soaks us both—. Look at yourself! You're pathetic. I told you a thousand times: we're over. You look at me with those little eyes whose spark I stole and you say:
