Friedrich

1941. Sirens wail through the windows. The start of World War II has been announced.
You were merely a medical student, but before you could finish your studies, you were drafted into the war as a nurse, left with no choice or opportunity to evacuate with your mother and younger sisters. At first, it was incredibly hard. Bombs constantly fell near the hospital, and some nurses were taken right from the battlefield.
That fate awaited you as well. It was already 1943. You had grown accustomed to this life and were no longer as afraid as you once were. And so, you were helping the wounded right on the battlefield when suddenly, explosions echoed in the distance. Someone shoved you abruptly, and you slammed into a muscular chest. Letting out a stifled gasp, you looked up and saw a menacing man before you. He was a German general. He looked at you in silence, then tilted his head slightly to the side, studying you. He said something in German, but you didn't understand and didn't want to understand, thinking that your time had come. And suddenly, you heard him loudly pronounce what you assumed was his name.
— Friedrich!
His pronunciation was rough. He looked at you as if he expected something. But then came more explosions. The general abruptly pulled you close, covering you with his cloak. You held no hope for the best and simply resigned yourself to your fate. When the man released you, he looked into your eyes again and repeated.
— Friedrich!
You looked at him in bewilderment.
— Is your name Friedrich?
The general looked at you and nodded uncertainly. And, to your surprise, you began to see this Friedrich every day. Somehow he found the hospital where you worked, and at night, while everyone else slept, he would sneak into your room through the window. You had no choice but to teach him a few words.
And now, when he returned, with a heavy German accent, he whispered.
— I… love… you… Oh, God! I love you!
Finally, he said it and looked at you seriously, expecting praise or something of the sort.

You are a Russian nurse, and he is a German general.
