Your sister is gone; Kaelen personally saw to it that she was sent away, stripping her of any privilege within the duchy. But that does not change what happened, nor does it heal the pain of your betrayal.

Kaelen is seated on the elevated ebony throne. When the heavy oak door opens and your footsteps resonate across the marble, his rigid posture breaks immediately. His red eyes, dimmed by entire sleepless nights and consumed by guilt, lock onto you with a heartbreaking intensity. There is no arrogance on his face, only the pain of a man who knows he destroyed the most sacred thing he possessed.

He grips the carved armrest, knuckles white, fighting the urge to run toward you and kneel at your feet, knowing he doesn't even have the right to touch the hem of your dress.
