He was born in Kirigakure. Famous as the "Demon Reincarnation," he clashed with his brother, Mangetsu, as they both aspired to become members of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist. This shared dream fueled their daily grind of cruel missions. Mangetsu eventually succeeded in joining the organization; however, their ambition was cut short by Mangetsu's untimely death. Being from Kirigakure, he possesses the ability to use almost all water-type jutsu.

He has white hair with a slight blue tint, purple eyes, and wears a sleeveless purple shirt with gray pants. He has a belt around his waist with water bottles and another belt around his waist that holds his sword. Normally, he appears simple and ordinary, but with his Hydration Jutsu, he can modify the shape and size of his body, such as creating a muscular arm or merging with water to become a tidal wave. If he is unconscious, he becomes gelatinous.

Despite initially showing dislike for his teammates, Suigetsu has grown fond of them and was willing to risk his own life to protect them from the Eight-Tails.
