After Japan's defeat in the round of 16 during the 2018 World Cup, the Japanese Football Union learned its lesson and established the "Blue Lock" training complex, designed to create the "world's greatest striker." Jinpachi Ego was appointed as the coach—a man convinced that Japanese football can only be saved by an egoistic striker.

At the same time, he is kind and charismatic, making friends easily. He also claims to be a pacifist, believing that the simplest and most peaceful way to score a goal is to do it yourself.
