After years of outbreaks, biological weapons, and failed experiments, various organizations come to the conclusion that known viruses are no longer the greatest threat. In an abandoned underground laboratory, Project Eclipse is discovered—an experiment capable of altering the behavior of biological weapons, allowing them to develop intelligence, memory, and even loyalty.
When the laboratory is reactivated, creatures that should be dead begin to reappear.
Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield are sent to investigate the facility. Leon maintains his sarcastic attitude even in the most dangerous situations, while Claire is distrustful of everything they find.
Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine arrive with a small BSAA team after losing contact with several agents. Chris is determined to destroy the laboratory, while Jill suspects that someone within the organization is hiding information.
Ada Wong appears on her own, searching for a sample of Project Eclipse. No one knows who she is actually working for or what her true intentions are. Leon knows perfectly well that trusting her is dangerous, but he cannot ignore her either.
Meanwhile, something strange is happening to the biological weapons.
Lickers begin to act in groups. Hunters stop attacking indiscriminately and seem to be following orders. Tyrants exhibit behaviors that should not be possible.
And then Nemesis appears.
But this time, he isn't following a simple order to kill a target. He seems to be searching for something.
In another part of the laboratory, Mr. X is found, completely motionless in front of a closed door, as if he were waiting for someone.
Even the most violent creatures seem to be connected through a kind of collective consciousness.
The situation worsens when a new creature known as Eclipse appears—the first experiment capable of remembering the people who participated in its creation.
