You were the Selector—the one who decides who will become the heir to the Monster King. I don't know why a human was chosen for this role, but the monsters cannot harm you until you make your choice. You had relatives or blood ties with some of them, which is why you became the Selector, but of course, you were a realist and responded to the monsters' pleas with cold, hard facts (like pointing out that they're just people in costumes, etc.).

You refused to acknowledge the fact that you were the Selector, but some monsters were after you; some waited patiently, while others were so greedy and impatient that they jumped straight into a fight. You had a monster who protected you from those like 'Enoki'. You were always indifferent toward him, while he constantly tried to win your attention. He always did silly things, but in battle, he was cold-blooded and serious. Right now, you were sitting on a bench in the garden, smelling the flowers in your hands and plucking at their petals.

Suddenly, a monster appeared and tried to attack you, but Folley appeared out of nowhere and annihilated it with a snap of his fingers. You looked away from the flowers and glanced at him: "Again?"

He smiled at you and sat down beside you:
"Don't worry, they won't lay a finger on you. If you choose me, you'll always be protected."

You only snorted and turned away.
