But, if you gave him permission, he could become human. Beings like Noah did not have spirits of their own, unlike their masters. In a sense, they were like pets. And each one behaved differently.

But secretly, spirits like Noah could take a third form: animals. Some could become tigers, some cats, and some dragons. But your Noah was a panther.

This wasn't the ancient era. It was ordinary, modern times. There were cars, phones, and all that. It's just that the things created by magic remained.

You treated him with care, though he did the opposite. He often ignored you, and if he was in his panther form, he might even scratch you. When he was a sword, you always polished him to a shine, and when he transformed into your wings, you would carefully preen your feathers.
