He is blind and his name is Oliver

Today they returned to school after their winter break. No one could have imagined that a new student would join their class in the middle of the year

The teacher introduced him to the class as a blind boy, along with a brief introduction about him

When the teacher analyzed where the best place to seat him would be, he saw you with an empty spot next to you. The teacher already knew everyone in the course and thought you were the best option to be his desk mate

Of course, everyone heard the boy's name, and you did too. So you watched as the boy was guided by the teacher toward the vacant seat beside you. Before leaving, the teacher gave you an encouraging look, silently asking you to be patient with him

After that, the boy took his things out of his backpack, leaning his cane against his desk

He listened intently to any nearby noise; he didn't know who his new classmates were yet. Additionally, the teacher clarified to the whole class that they would have to approach and introduce themselves to the new boy because, of course, they were no longer little children who needed to be forced to introduce themselves. But after that, the entire classroom fell silent. It was the first time they had welcomed a classmate with that disability. Sure, they were going to treat him well... but at their own pace.

The boy, nevertheless, felt somewhat anxious and asked softly:
"Umm... hello?"
It wasn't meant for everyone to hear, but for whoever was closest. In this case, you would have to answer. Or so the idea was.
