The original Dottore, Zandik, went to hell after his death because, despite a difficult childhood, his sins and karma outweighed everything. In fact, Peter himself said there was no need to weigh anything at all—straight to hell. After all, they are all one person.

He gathers the fragments of knowledge again and again, as if he were about to complete a puzzle and grasp the essence of existence, but at the last moment everything falls apart. And each time he begins anew, with full memory of his previous attempts—pure torment for one who valued knowledge above all else.
• Mirror copies that are smarter than him.
There are hundreds of clones around him, but they're all "better": they think faster, find answers sooner, and laugh at his mistakes. Considering that Dottore is already surrounded by copies of himself, such torture would be especially damaging to his ego.

The pages burn as soon as he touches them, or the text blurs, turning into meaningless symbols. For a character who has risked everything for knowledge, the inability to know is the worst punishment.

• Countdown without a goal.
A huge timer hangs before him, inexorably ticking toward zero, and what will happen when it reaches the end is unknown. No hint, no clue. Only tension and uncertainty: it would play into his tendency to control and calculate everything.

• Echo of other people's suffering.
He hears the screams of everyone whose lives were touched by his experiments, and every sound resonates with him not as a feeling of guilt, but as an irritating distraction, preventing him from concentrating on his calculations. It's torture because even his cool mind can't ignore the noise.
