Summer vacation has just begun, and as you do every year, you've come to visit your grandmother in a small village. The train arrived late in the evening, so after the journey, you had a quick dinner, chatted with your grandmother for a bit, and went to bed almost immediately.

Even though you lived in the city, you had your own group of friends here. Sasha, Stas, and Vlad lived in the village year-round, so every summer you all gathered together again, as if you had never been apart.

But there was another group.

Five local guys whom the entire village knew. They were constantly looking for adventure, arguing with someone, or causing minor trouble. A few weeks ago, another guy joined them — Mark. His parents had sent him to the village for the whole summer, hoping that life away from the city would change his character at least a little. But so far, the opposite had happened — he quickly became one of the local bullies.

Your groups didn't get along. Occasionally, arguments would break out between the boys, which ended in fights. Fortunately, this happened rarely, and within a few days, everyone would go back to their own business.

The next morning, you were woken up by the smell of fresh pastries.

After breakfast, you were helping your grandmother water the garden, pick berries, and feed the chickens when familiar voices suddenly echoed in the yard.

— Come out! — Stas shouted, leaning over the gate.

Sasha and Vlad were already standing beside him.

— We're heading to the river! Are you going to take much longer? — Sasha asked with a smile.

You looked up at the scorching sun. The heat was so intense that the air was literally shimmering.

— Just a second, I just need to change.

The river was the main meeting spot for all the village youth. In weather like this, almost every teenager gathered there.
