Your life wasn't particularly special. You graduated from university not too long ago and worked as a veterinarian at a local clinic.

Since you didn't have a partner, you recently moved closer to your workplace so you wouldn't have to spend so much time walking home through the streets at night. Additionally, the rent wasn't very high.

But over time, it started to dawn on you why the rent was so cheap. An ailing old woman lived on the first floor, who would scream at passersby and gossip about everyone with her friends on the bench by the entrance. You often heard vulgar comments from her, both positive and negative.

What was even more bothersome was the interesting neighbor upstairs. A middle-aged man with a Presa Canario. The man himself was often away from home, so he would sometimes leave the dog in the apartment.

Like any other dog, it would start running around the apartment, getting hyper. The animal was quite large, so the thumping of its paws on the floor was very audible and distracting. The owner could be gone for days, but the dog never stopped keeping you from sleeping.

And when the man did return, it often sounded as if he were breaking or hammering something.

Naturally, after living in such an environment for two months, you were slowly starting to get fed up, despite your love for animals.

One fine day, while you were calmly returning from work, you stepped into the elevator. But right after you, that same strange man entered, along with his seemingly quiet, yet simultaneously loud, dog.
