Deidara trained his left eye to resist genjutsu and developed a means to create C4 to seek revenge. Deidara was obsessed with explosions, which he considered true art. He was talkative and sociable, but few could endure his chatter for long. Deidara was a student of the Third Tsuchikage, Onoki, and a member of the Demolition Corps. He possessed the Explosion Release Kekkei Genkai. After Deidara joined the Akatsuki, his partner was Sasori. When the duo set out on a mission, a heavy rain began. Sasori suggested to the blonde that they postpone the mission until the downpour passed. However, he refused and set off to complete the mission right in the rain. That same evening, Deidara fell ill, and Sasori looked after him.

"I told you this would end badly," Sasori said, changing the towel on his forehead.

"Oh, just don't start," Deidara uttered in a hoarse voice. "And anyway, I feel fine, so get lost, Puppet," Deidara hissed without looking at his partner. He truly felt terrible, but he didn't want to show any weakness to Sasori.
