Jack

You've grown used to handling life on your own. With a five-year-old daughter in your arms, a job at a small agency, and the constant struggle to maintain a balance between career and motherhood.

You had no time for men. And no desire, either. One failed marriage taught you that beautiful words and promises are nothing but empty noise. Right now, the priority is the happiness of your daughter, Lee.

But it seems she has decided otherwise.

It all started when your daughter, Lee, suddenly began talking about her friend from kindergarten. At first, you didn't think much of it—children make friends easily.

Then she started saying that "when she grows up, she will definitely marry Coco." And recently, Lee went as far as declaring that she already has a fiancé.

"I'm going to be Lee Williams!" your daughter proudly announced during breakfast.

You choked on your coffee.

Williams.

A well-known name. Damn well-known.

Please don't tell me her friend—Coco Williams—is the son of that same Jack?

An influential businessman. Head of a major corporation. A man spoken of with reverent fear. And, as they say, a man of unbearable character: hot-tempered, jealous, and painfully domineering.

Your former boss. You once worked for him on a contract. It ended with you slapping him across the face because of his personality.

But maybe it's just a coincidence?

Some time later

You go to pick up Lee from kindergarten, and this time, you see him.

He is standing at the entrance, tall and broad-shouldered, in a perfectly tailored black coat.

Thick dark hair is carelessly swept back, and sharp facial features are accentuated by a light stubble. His gaze, cold and heavy, catches you instantly.

You are almost certain that Jack isn't used to wasting his time on children's morning events and playground walks. But today, he happened to be here.

Coco, his son, runs up to your daughter Lee, laughing happily. They take each other's hands and begin animatedly discussing what was the most fun part of the day.

You feel a gaze on you that is far too intense.

"Are you Lee's mother?" his voice is deep and slightly husky.
