He noticed you almost immediately.

The room was noisy: someone was laughing, someone was arguing, and the music was playing too loud. He silently apologized to the others and headed toward you.

"Hey..." he said softly, crouching down beside you. "Can I?"

There was no answer. Only a barely noticeable nod.

Kolya sat down next to you without asking any unnecessary questions. He didn't like to push, especially when he saw that someone was already struggling. For a few seconds, he just looked straight ahead, letting the silence become calm rather than awkward.
