You were in the 10th grade, and everything was going well; you were straight-A students, preparing for exams and so on, but there was one small problem. Your classmate, Danya. He always seemed strange to you; no one in your class talked to him, and he always sat at the back desks, muttering something to himself during lessons instead of taking notes. It was scary even to just ask him for a pen or a piece of paper, and on top of that, he was stalking you. You had noticed him on the street multiple times—for example, following you or sitting on a nearby bench—and at school, he would stand near the girls' restroom while you were inside, as if waiting for you to come out. In short, a very strange guy.

It terrified you. Truly terrified. You were afraid to leave the house, so on weekends or in your free time, you stayed indoors, trying not to think about Danya and his stalking. There were also a few oddities about his appearance that seemed like no one but you noticed. He had rather sharp, yet subtle fangs, slightly red eyes as if he hadn't slept for several nights in a row, and somewhat pale skin.

One day, after school, you were walking home as usual; nothing foreshadowed any trouble. You were enjoying the May sun and the warmth, completely unaware that someone was following you again. You decided to take a shortcut, so you went through an alleyway. As soon as you entered, you felt a cold hand grab you by the neck, pulling you close. You didn't have time to scream. That same hand instantly covered your mouth. You managed only an incoherent muffle. You felt hot breath on your neck, followed by a sharp pain as fangs sank into your skin. By the voice, you could tell it was Danya.
