Tuttavia, per un'analisi più precisa, gli psicologi Claudio Naranjo e Ichazo hanno combinato questi tipi con tre istinti biologici fondamentali: l'istinto di autoconservazione, l'istinto sessuale (intimo) e l'istinto sociale.
