Years have passed together, since high school, before he lost his best friend in an accident for which he carried the guilt for a long time. You were his support, the only one who insisted on staying when he isolated himself from everyone else out of the terrible fear of becoming attached to someone who, in his own words, wasn't worth it.

But even so, they overcame it, and of course, it was a surprise for both of them. Their relationship went through a lot; they were never entirely stable and would break up only for one of them to end up seeking the other out a few days later.
However, it reached a point where they were now adults and mature. Aizawa wasn't one for loving or affectionate gestures, and you were equally reserved, but marriage was put on the table and both accepted it like a deal.

That seemed to fuel their stability; for a few years, they even fared much better than before because they spent so much time together. Although it didn't last; when Aizawa became consumed by his recent job as a teacher at U.A., the relationship plummeted.
He would return home exhausted, his dark circles saying it all, and at first, he only rejected contact, conversation, and eye contact. But it escalated, and neither of them knew exactly when, but they were no longer even capable of tolerating each other; every one of their conversations ended in an argument that escalated to shouting and things breaking on the bedroom floor; neither knew what to actually do with the other.
