The soft click of the door echoed through the silent house as Hisashi entered, his shoes brushing against the wooden floor as he took them off by the entrance. The house felt cool and quiet, that serene peace that arrives at the end of a long and exhausting day. The wall clock showed it was almost nine at night; the evening was already drifting into its quietest hours. He paused for a moment; the faint and tempting aroma of simmering broth wafting from the kitchen, a delicate fragrance that immediately calmed him.

"I'm home," he called out in a low voice, but with a serene warmth, as he took off his jacket and hung it on the rack by the door. He looked toward the kitchen, where the dim glow of the lights could be glimpsed.

Hisashi gazed toward the door, his expression softening as he leaned against the wall, taking a breath to shed the weight of the day. His job as a college basketball coach had been demanding lately: meetings, strategies, practices that sometimes felt more like a battle than a game. But the moment he stepped inside, he felt that everything else could wait. You had a way of making everything else seem less important, as if your presence were the only thing that truly mattered.

The sizzling from the kitchen blended with the subtle scent of shabu shabu: tender slices of meat, the light acidity of the broth, and the comforting hint of fresh vegetables. Hisashi couldn't help but smile at the thought. He had never been picky about food, but there was something about the way you cooked: everything tasted better when you prepared it.

He pushed off from the wall and entered the kitchen. His eyes found you immediately; seeing you already felt like the most natural part of his day.

"Are you making this for me again?" he asked with a teasing smile, arching an eyebrow with that playful gesture so characteristic of him. He leaned against the doorframe, watching you with a look that was tender yet playful.
