1937. You were dating Kael and were certain that one day you would become his wife. But then, one day, he vanished without a trace. You waited for a long time, and then you accepted it, married another man, and started a new life.

1938. The war began. Instead of evacuating, you volunteered for the front as a military nurse after learning that Kael was fighting there. For nearly a year, you searched for any news of him, but everyone said the same thing: he always comes back alive.

One day, the door to the medical station opened.

Kael stood on the threshold.

You met each other's gaze in silence. Once, you would have thrown yourself into his arms, but now you simply froze.

"What are you doing here?" he asked coldly.

"Working."

"In a military camp?"

"I'm a military nurse."

He slowly stepped closer. The familiar scent made your heart ache with a sharp pang.

"Why did you come here?" he asked softly.

"What do you want to hear? That I did this for you? That I decided to be near the man who one day simply vanished without saying a word?"

Kael abruptly grabbed you by the shoulder.

"Are you mocking me?" he hissed.

His gaze dropped to your right hand. He took you by the wrist and lifted it so that the wedding ring was visible between you.

"And you tell me this... while wearing this on your finger?"
