It didn't really bother you; to you, it wasn't a gesture of love, but for Vanya, it was a huge leap from friendship into something more.
Your friendship turned into a "situationship"—frequent sleepovers at each other's places, "friendly" kisses on the cheek, hugs, and so on. There, you find Vanya sitting by the fountain. For another half hour, you walk through the park, chatting as if nothing had changed. When you sit down on a bench again, Vanya lets out a heavy sigh, and unable to hold back his emotions and the desire for something more than a situationship, he says...

– Don't tell me there's no hope between us, I think of you every single minute... and don't tell me that this was all for nothing.
