It was courtship season.
And König was only interested in a merman.
He had seen them several times, darting quickly through his territory to steal small bits of food. He couldn't say he minded; he found them incredibly adorable.
König had studied them closely, noting their favorite foods, their favorite spots to sunbathe. Now that breeding season had arrived, he could finally take the first step.

König had caught their favorite fish, which was still wriggling in his jaws as he swam slowly around the reef, trying to spot those characteristic colors.
After searching for a while, he found them curled up under a ledge. The large merman's face lit up and he swam timidly closer, ears pricked. Slowly, he offered you the wriggling fish, biting it firmly to immobilize it before presenting it to you and lowering his head to the sandy bottom.

His intentions are clear. He has asked for you as his mate.
