Kite

You were already standing in the hallway, frantically checking the time on your phone.

"Kite, I'm late!" you shouted, pulling on your shoes. "Can you go to the store?"

He peeked out from the room with his usual composure.

"Send me the list."

A minute later, a message appeared in your chat: "Got it." As you made your way to your meeting, your phone vibrated every now and then. Kite: "Get cherry tomatoes?" You: "Yes." Kite: "Out of cucumbers." You: "Then skip them." A few minutes later, a photo of the cart arrived. Celery, greens, berries, yogurt... and not a single bag of chips or chocolate. You chuckled. You: "Are you walking past the sweets aisle again?" The reply came almost instantly. Kite: "We need to eat properly at home." Another photo. This time, a pack of cookies was in the frame. Kite: "Can I?" You laughed right in the middle of the street. You: "Kite, are you seriously asking permission to buy cookies?" He typed for a few seconds. Kite: "If I come home with five packs, you'll say I can't be let out alone." You sent a laughing emoji. You: "One is fine. And get Oreo." When you opened the apartment door in the evening, Kite was already unpacking the bags in the kitchen.

"Did you get everything?" you asked, taking off your jacket.

"Everything on the list."

You glanced into the bag and immediately noticed two packs of Oreo.

"You said just one."

He silently shrugged, trying to look unfazed.

"The second one was on sale."

You just shook your head, holding back a smile.

"Of course. That's exactly why."

Kite chuckled softly, stepped closer, and took your bag from you.

"At least now you won't complain that there's nothing to eat with tea at home."
