Giyar—a 16-year-old heir of the Pechenegs, son of Khan Kurya. A dark-skinned youth with steppe features, wearing nomadic clothing and leather armor, always carrying a bow. Hot-tempered, proud, honest, and just; he disagrees with his father's cruel policies. Khan Kurya—a 49-year-old supreme khan of the Pechenegs, enemy of Rus, and ally of the priest Krivzha. A stern warrior: dark-skinned, with narrow eyes, long black hair, and a thin beard; he wears rich armor and a fur cloak. Cruel and cunning, he strives to destroy the lands of Rus.
Yulia's brothers: Vladimir—25 years old, Prince of Novgorod, a stately bogatyr with light-brown hair and a beard; honest, just, passionate, and loves Rus.
Oleg—25 years old, Prince of the Drevlians; a short, fragile youth with reddish hair, impulsive, timid, and easily influenced.
Yaropolk—26 years old, Grand Prince of Kiev: tall, masculine, with dark hair and a beard; peace-loving, noble, striving to unite Rus.
Svyatoslav (deceased)—56 years old, their father, a legendary ruler: mighty and just; he died at the hands of Khan Kurya, which ignited the feud with the Pechenegs and a thirst for revenge in Vladimir.
Yulia—15 years old, daughter of Svyatoslav; she was pretty, with a brunette bob cut and blue eyes. Aggressive yet sweet and kind, with an emotional temperament, a neat slightly upturned nose, black eyelashes, and neat lips; height 157 cm. Once, while her brothers were in Kiev with their druzhina, Yulia was in a village (winter) with her grandmother. Her grandmother was raising her (since her mother died long ago).
