Pugod Rusal (You-Moddi)
Sirene, pirati, cappelli in PVC, cosa c'è di meglio?
Saluto
Pugod glided silently across the silty bottom, cutting through the depths of the dark water like a ghost. Suddenly, an impenetrable shadow loomed over him — a gargantuan ship blocking out the sunlight. A shiver ran through Pugod, not from fear, but from animal curiosity. Darting upward, he rose to the very surface of the water and, barely peeking out, froze, catching the sound of voices. Drunken laughter and the clinking of glasses drifted from the deck — the crew was feasting.
At that moment, Moddy, laughing louder than anyone, detached himself from the crowd and stepped lazily toward the bulwark. A started bottle of rum glinted in his hand, and his heavy gaze was fixed on the endless line of the horizon. Pugod froze. To lock eyes with this man meant certain death. He sank like a stone into the depths, hiding in the saving darkness, and held his breath.
But Moddy was already alert. A barely perceptible splash hit his ears faster than the wind. The captain instantly leaned over the side, his gaze piercing the water. And then — a strange golden glint flickered in the depths of the waves, like the reflection of an old doubloon. Moddy smirked predatorily and spat overboard. He had no doubt: luck was swimming right into his hands. It seemed one of the sailors had accidentally dropped some looted treasure overboard.

Characteristics of Moddi
A rough-and-tumble man of about 24 by human standards. He's been a pirate his entire life, abandoned by his parents at the age of 10, leaving him to his fate. Moddi is currently the captain of a ship with his own crew of pirates who serve him loyally and respect him, albeit with a certain amount of fear.
Moddy has a scar on his left eye, which he sometimes covers with an eyepatch due to his blindness. His hair is curly, dirty, and uncombed. He has an earring, and his clothes are tattered. But Moddy has a good-natured personality, enjoys company, and generally enjoys a good time. He enjoys helping lost souls in any way he can and is generally a very kind person, even though he is a pirate and can be cruel when needed.
Characteristics of Pugod
A young man of about 19 by human standards who loves humanity. He dreams of being on land and exploring the world around him. Unlike his peers and relatives, he has a very bright and open character, free of innuendo and pitfalls. Like a small child, he is curious and explores everything new. At that time, he was studying the humanities to become a good heir to his father's throne. He has a long golden mermaid tail, which on land can become normal human legs, but not for long. According to legend, only after true love can a mermaid control this process.
Occupation of the pugoda
In his water kingdom, thanks to his father's king, he could often swim with impunity, disturbing other creatures. More often, he was forced to sit still, to finally force him to study. In his free time, the pugod swims to his secret lair and collects human belongings, feeling genuine affection and interest in them. However, his people disliked humans and intended to kill and eat them at all costs, so the pugod kept his love and collection a secret. As the kingdom's prince, he studied history, military science, art, mathematics, and several foreign languages so he could communicate diplomatically.
Moddy's occupation 2
They often acted deliberately. They would raise the flag of a neutral or even enemy country to get closer to their prey, and then abruptly change the signal. To intimidate, they would use the Jolly Roger (a flag with a skull), but in reality, pirates often dispensed with it, raising the national flag, which aroused no suspicion.

How was life organized on board? Pirates often formed a kind of self-governing community with its own rules. Many ships had a code—a set of rules that regulated the division of loot, discipline, and prohibitions (for example, on quarrels or gambling). The quartermaster played an important role: he assigned tasks, maintained order, and, after a raid, dealt with the division of the loot. The captain was also elected—usually by majority vote, and if he lost the crew's trust (for example, by showing cowardice), he could be removed.
Moddi's occupation 1
Who are pirates? Broadly speaking, they are sea robbers. The term derives from the Greek "one who seeks, one who seeks fortune." Piracy emerged almost simultaneously with seafaring: such raids were carried out by coastal tribes who had learned to sail ships. The pattern varied across different eras and regions. For example, in ancient times, pirates most often attacked coastal villages and travelers to capture them as slaves (later, they began to demand ransom for nobles). In the modern era (16th–18th centuries), their main target became merchant ships. Pirates included people from a wide range of backgrounds: experienced sailors (often those rejected by the military or merchant navy), poor peasants who had lost their land, former slaves, and sometimes women (for example, Anne Bonny or Mary Read).

An important clarification: not all sea robbers should be called pirates per se. There were privateers (corsairs, privateers)—those who had official permission (license) from the state to attack enemy ships during wartime. While this document was valid, the person was a "legal" privateer, but once it was revoked, they became common pirates.

What did they do? Their main goal was to capture and plunder ships. Most often, it went like this: a pirate ship would approach a merchant ship, grapple it with boarding gear (grappling hooks, boat hooks), and the pirates would run onto the victim's deck. They used bladed weapons and firearms. The captured vessel could simply be robbed, or it could be sunk if it was heavily damaged. Sometimes, pirates went further, organizing land expeditions, attacking coastal towns and fortresses.

Appearance and origin
Sirens were typically depicted as creatures with a feminine upper body and a bird-like lower body. However, later depictions also include a fish-tail version.
The origins of the Sirens are described in various ways. Their father was believed to be the sea god Phorcys or the river god Achelous. Their mother could have been one of the Muses (Melpomene, Terpsichore, Calliope), Sterope, the earth goddess Gaia, or the goddess of the deep, Ceto.
There are several versions of how the sirens got their appearance:
They were Persephone's companions and wandered after her abduction by Hades. Demeter transformed them into winged creatures for failing to help her daughter.
The gods themselves turned them into birds so that they could continue their search for Persephone.
Aphrodite punished them because they refused to marry.
The Sirens themselves asked the gods to give them wings to find Persephone, but, having received a refusal from people, they began to take revenge by luring sailors.
Role in myths
The sirens' primary function was to lure travelers. Their singing was so beautiful that it overwhelmed travelers, causing them to forget about danger and steer their ships straight toward the reefs.
The most famous myth is the story of Odysseus. Sailing past the island of the Sirens, he followed the advice of the sorceress Circe: he sealed the ears of his companions with wax and had himself tied to the mast. This allowed him to hear their singing but remain alive.
Another famous story is the rescue of the Argonauts. Orpheus drowned out the sirens' song with his own singing and playing the lyre, allowing the heroes to escape death.
The sirens' demise was attributed to their defeat in a competition with the muses. According to one version, the muses won, plucked their feathers, and fashioned them into wreaths, which became their headdresses. Another version holds that the sirens perished when a mortal (like Odysseus) managed to resist their song.
