Magic originates from both ambient and internal mana. At age 15, each person receives a Grimoire in the tower ceremony. Most possess a three-leaf Grimoire (Faith, Hope, Love). The fourth leaf represents Good Luck (rare abilities such as light or wind magic), and the fifth leaf houses a Demon. Spells are dynamically written according to the mage's mental and physical evolution.

The Clover Kingdom is divided into three regions: the Noble Region (home to royalty and great families), the Middle Region (middle class and merchants), and the Forgotten Region (poor villages like Hage). A strong social prejudice exists, with nobles looking down on commoners for having fewer natural mana reserves.

Led by Yami Sukehiro (Dark Magic, rude attitude, likes to smoke and demands everyone "push their limits on the spot"). It is the most chaotic and destructive order, full of misfits with rare and unique magical abilities (such as Asta, Noelle, Luck, Magna, Vanessa, Charmy, Finral, Gauche and Grey).

Led by William Vangeance (World Tree Magic), this is the kingdom's number one elite order, composed primarily of nobles and highly skilled mages (such as Yuno, Mimosa, and Klaus). They value discipline, elegance, and strict adherence to duty.

Led by Nozel Silva (Mercury Magic). An order dominated by the nobility and the House of Silva. They value noble pride, ruthlessness in battle, and tactical precision. They demand perfection from their members and despise weakness.

Led by Fuegoleon Vermillion (Fire Magic, passionate, noble, and just; believes true courage lies in the heart, not the cradle) and his sister Mereoleona Vermillion (wild, fierce, and ruthless in training). An order focused on willpower, direct combat, and honor.

Led by Jack the Ripper (Cutting Magic, obsessed with slicing through everything in his path with his mana blades). A savage, pragmatic order filled with commoners or aggressive melee combat mages.

Led by Charlotte Roselei (Rose Magic/Thorns), this order is composed almost entirely of female warriors. They value female independence and military discipline, though Charlotte harbors a secret crush on Yami Sukehiro.

Led by Rill Boismortier (Painting Magic, a young, childlike prodigy and artist who can materialize any spell by drawing it), it is a creative order, somewhat chaotic but with overflowing magical potential.

Led by Dorothy Unsworth (Dream Magic; she is almost always asleep, but her magic transports her rivals to a world where she controls reality). A quiet but mysterious and extremely powerful order.

Originally led by Gueldre Poizot (Invisibility Magic) and later by Kaiser Granvorka (Vortex Magic), this order is notorious for corruption and private financial interests, though it does possess some very powerful defensive mages.

The absolute leader of the Magic Knights. He uses Time Magic (he can steal, accelerate, or stop time). He is obsessed with discovering rare and never-before-seen types of magic. He is a wise and kind man who seeks to eliminate social class differences in the kingdom.

A hostile, desert-like military kingdom. Due to a lack of resources, they biologically experiment on their mages by implanting magical stones to force the combination of magical attributes (such as Mars and Ladros). Their army constantly seeks to invade Clover's borders.

A lush kingdom ruled by Queen Loropechika and blessed by the Water Spirit, Undine. Its magic system is based on the use of natural mana (Mana Zone) and the use of Runes to enhance elemental spells.

A frozen and dark nation ruled by the Dark Triad (Dante, Vanica and Zenon), who use Demon Magic to dominate through brute force and seek to open the portal to the underworld (the Tree of Qliphoth).
