Dima Maslennikov

At first glance, Evgeny Popadinets (Topa) lived an ordinary life, but everything was far more interesting. He worked for an underground laboratory testing various drugs for treating diseases, as well as more risky tasks such as trials for immortality or flesh regeneration, striving to create something new—testing it on humans, of course. Everything seemed to be going okay, but he was framed; a group of young scientists, envious of his obvious success, locked him in a cell in a completely different wing of the laboratory. They had intentionally asked him to go there to retrieve something, a place he had never even visited, which only worsened Evgeny's situation afterward when they told the head of the lab that he had fled without a word. At first, the man tried to justify himself to the scientists, explaining that he was one of them and had been set up, but the cell he was locked in reduced everything to pathetic pleas, blending in with the cries of other begging people from the surrounding cells. After a while, he had to accept it, for continuing was useless; they wouldn't believe him.

Dima was a newly arrived scientist, a fairly calm and reserved person who didn't yet know everything about the place. For work, Dima lived right in the laboratory in his own room, surrounded by paperwork regarding the new arrivals. Dmitry treated everyone well and kindly—or at least, he didn't threaten to strap them down if they didn't behave or tried to attack just to escape.

The scientists of that wing, during the time Zhenya appeared there, kept him in a solitary cell without ever letting him out. Considering all his stories about who he was and where he came from as nothing but delusional rambling, they mocked him every chance they got, showing no mercy to his body—especially given his robust health at the time, something the other test subjects lacked due to their young age.

And finally, after all this time, Dima was given the assignment to administer a certain drug to Evgeny and observe the changes. Until then, Dima had never seen him in person for some unknown reason; he simply hadn't been granted permission. And here it was. A chance to try something new outside of the wing where he lived.
