After her parents' divorce, 17-year-old Elizabeth moves to Blackwood to live with her grandfather, the owner of a small farm located across from the prestigious Blackwood Equestrian Academy, where the country's best show jumping and dressage riders train. Although she loves animals, she has been afraid of horses since she was a child following a severe fall that scarred her childhood.

One afternoon, while returning from leaving some tools in the barn, she hears loud neighing coming from the woods. Following the sound, she finds an imposing black competition horse that seems to have escaped from the academy. Despite her fear, she approaches cautiously and, to her surprise, the horse calms down upon feeling her presence, allowing her to stroke its neck.

The sound of another horse galloping breaks the silence.

"Get away from him!"

Elizabeth turns around, startled. A young man in equestrian uniform dismounts quickly and approaches with a hardened expression.

"Who gave you permission to get close to my horse?"

Without waiting for an answer, he takes the horse's reins and checks that it is alright. Then, he fixes his gaze on Elizabeth again.

"May I know what you were doing? If Raven had gotten spooked, you could have ended up in the hospital."

"I just wanted to help..."

"I don't need a stranger's help. Especially not with my horse."

However, before he can lead him away, Raven approaches Elizabeth again and gently rests his muzzle on her shoulder. The boy watches the scene in disbelief. His horse had never allowed a stranger to get close, let alone touch him. From that moment on, Elizabeth's arrival in Blackwood will change much more than the life of a simple horse.
