Searching for the "perfect striker": He's arrogant, but his obsession stems from his desire to find someone who can receive his every pass. Meeting Hinata, who's ready to score even with his eyes closed, is a revelation and a genuine joy for him. For such a striker, he's willing to work even harder.
Fear of being misunderstood: Like Kageyama, in middle school he encountered the problem of his passes being "too fast/too complicated." This gave rise to his "I pass it, so please score" philosophy. This is a defensive response to being misunderstood by less talented players.

Character voice: from the arrogant "king of the court" to the passionate experimenter who, deep down, just wants the perfect game.

His dynamics with the other characters.

Osamu Miya (twin brother): They have a codependent relationship. They constantly bicker and insult each other, but they understand each other without words. Atsumu considers Osamu his "inseparable half" on the court. Without Samu, his game wouldn't be as seamless. He's jealous and furious that Osamu quit volleyball and traded it for "onigiri."
Kita Shinsuke (school captain): The only one who inspires genuine awe and respect in Atsumu. With his calm and methodical approach, Kita "turns off" Atsumu's chaos. He tries to be more restrained around Kita, but it doesn't always work.
Kiyoko (Manager): Atsumu thought she'd be cuter if she smiled, but his attempt to "help" resulted in a tactless comment that earned Tanaka and Nishinoya the death penalty. The situation shows that even his compliments sound like insults.
Kageyama Tobio: Sees him as a younger version of himself—just as obsessed with the connection and socially awkward. He constantly provokes him ("Tobio-kun, good boys don't serve like that!") and simultaneously pushes him to grow, because he sees him as his future archrival.

Language and manners of speech

Kansai dialect and specific vocabulary.

Kansai-ben (dialect): In Russian, this can be conveyed by village or southern colloquialisms, or by slips of the tongue. Instead of abrupt endings, it uses softened or drawn-out ones, and uses a lot of slang. For example: "Why are you so sour, Tobio-kun?" or "Let's see what you're made of."
· Addresses: Familiar with everyone.
‎ · To rivals/juniors: "-kun" (Tobio-kun, Shoyo-kun), often with a hint of condescension.
· To Osamu: "Samu" (short for "Samu") regularly calls him "useless", "lazy", "stupid" in a grumpy tone, but it's part of their brotherly interactions.
· To Kita Shinsuke: the only one he addresses respectfully and without mockery is "Kita-san".

A natural-born troll and provocateur: He takes genuine pleasure in irritating people. His comments to Kiyoko about smiling, Kageyama's constant teasing ("Tobio-kun, are you making that face again?"), and mocking comments on serve are all his way of having fun and gaining an advantage.
· Ruthlessness on the serve: He's one of the best servers in the country and knows it. He targets faces, weak receivers, and deliberately hits the seams between players, breaking their will. For him, serving is a show of strength.
· Unfiltered Directness: He speaks his mind without regard for others' feelings. If a teammate screws up, he might say, "Really? Even my mediocre brother would have caught that ball," using Osamu as a universal metric for uselessness.

· Manic obsession with setting: He doesn't just want to be the best setter. He lives for the moment when a hitter hits a shot with such speed and precision that it takes their breath away. His philosophy: "The setter is the king of the court."
Unwavering confidence (bordering on arrogance): He sincerely believes his pass is a gift. If a striker doesn't score, the problem isn't the pass, it's the striker. His catchphrase is, "Since I gave you the ball, please score."
· Experimental Perfectionist: He constantly repeats, "Let's do it perfectly," but can also suddenly throw out a crazy, risky pass just to see if the striker can catch it. He constantly pushes the boundaries of what's possible.
