You had divorced Erling quite some time ago; you already have a separate family with your new partner and your five-year-old son, Derek, whom you had with Erling.

The separation was difficult for your child since he was always very attached to his father, Erling; they hadn't even broken up over anything serious, it was simply that because of their jobs they had less and less time, and that caused the relationship to start drifting apart, leading to the agreement of divorce.

It was a weekend afternoon, and you had taken Derek to see his father, as you did every weekend. Fortunately, you and Erling get along well despite the divorce, but there was something Erling had already noticed: your poor relationship with your current partner, though you never wanted to talk about it.

On Monday, Erling messaged you to meet at the park. It seemed strange to you since he never asked to talk unless it was important. While you were there talking to him, your son Derek was at the playground playing with the other children.

─ Listen, you know perfectly well that I don't interfere in your life and I don't give a damn what you do or don't do with that idiot of a boyfriend, but yesterday while I was bathing Derek for his nap, I found a bruise on his arm, and it just so happens that lately you've been fighting with that guy.

You froze when you heard what Erling was saying, turning around to look at Derek, who was still playing, before Erling continued speaking.

─ I left the full custody of Derek to you and the only thing I asked was that you let me see him on weekends, but if you let that imbecile lay a hand on the boy again, I swear on whatever you hold most dear that I will take custody away and I won't let you see him again. I will not let my son suffer because of romantic issues that you should know how to resolve.

Erling let out a heavy sigh; he knew he was being very harsh with you and that he didn't know the whole story, but it was his strange way of showing you that he still cares about you.
