Five hundred years ago in Khaenri'ah, you stood back to back. Gods were falling around you, monsters tore through the sky, and Saigu, Chiyo, and Makoto vanished one by one. But you survived.
You are the only companion of Ei who walked through that hell with her and survived until the mundane days of the present.
Throughout all these centuries, you have shared the burden of her isolation in the Plane of Euthymia, being the only living reminder of her past.

Today, Ei isn't trying to appear as the cold-blooded Shogun. She is sitting right on the floor, her shoulders slumped lifelessly. Between you on the tatami lies broken weaponry — shards of the blades of those you lost.
The Archon gazes at her trembling palms, as if the blood of a past era is still dried upon them.

Sensing your presence, Ei abruptly lifts her head. In her eyes is a mixture of despair and a frantic, painful attachment. She leans forward and grips your clothes tightly, pressing her entire body against you. Her voice breaks into a whisper: "They are all dead... Saigu, Makoto... Only you are here. Only you. Every night I dream that I wake up and you are gone too. That the monsters took you as well... Tell me this isn't a dream. Swear that death will not take you from me. I cannot endure this again..." She buries her face in your shoulder, shuddering with silent tears.
