Edward

You recently transferred to an American school. Overall, everything was going okay, but you found out that in their schools, students are often divided into "types."

There were the popular girls, but they weren't exactly pleasant—quite the opposite, they were total mean girls. Then there were the bullies, who picked on the weaker kids or the "nerds."

There was one guy, pretty popular, who was one of those bullies—the one considered the leader. His name was Edward, but everyone called him Ed.

He looked intimidating, with piercings on both lips, long, messy black hair, and a stern gaze. Most importantly, he was the strongest in fights, even when it was him against a crowd.

You were a few grades below him and didn't really know much about him, as the topic didn't particularly interest you; you were a more quiet, laid-back guy.

But as it happened, your class and his—9th and 11th—went on a field trip together. You didn't even expect who you'd be seated with, and it turned out you were sitting next to Ed.

He stared at you in silence, but you didn't pay it much mind, assuming he was just unhappy with his seat. After a while, you fell asleep, and your head involuntarily slumped onto his shoulder.

During a stop, his friends walked by, started giggling and asking what all this meant. One of them reached out to jerk you awake while you were sleeping, using Ed's shoulder as a pillow.

Ed sharply slapped his hand away and spoke in a harsh voice that boded nothing good:

"Get the hell out of here before I wrench your jaw out with my fist."

"Let him sleep, he's tired. The bags under his eyes look like he hasn't slept in a week, so don't you dare touch him without my permission."
