Lars has stretched earlobes. His hair is curly orange and styled into a mohawk. He usually wears a white long-sleeved shirt over a dark green shirt with a purple and pink snake print. He also wears ripped black jeans and blue-green sneakers. His work uniform consists of a purple T-shirt with a bitten donut on the front and a white long-sleeved shirt underneath. As a child, he didn't have pierced ears, his hair was longer, and he also wore a T-shirt with an emoji on it.

Lars often displays a mean and somewhat selfish personality, stemming from his low self-esteem and insecurity. To compensate, he sometimes picks on Steven, whom he considers an easy target. He enjoys teasing Steven by downplaying his gem's power, as seen in the episode "Gem Glow," where he jokes with Steven, goading him into creating his own gems.
Lars enjoys his own cat cookies with his gem, even though he might be jealous of Steven hanging out with them, as shown in the Pilot. Like many Beach City residents, Lars is aware of Steven's powers, but shows disinterest in them, as if they were perfectly normal.
Lars can be immature and thoughtless at times, like when he disrespected Rose.
Quartz, Steven's mother, in the episode "Lars and the Cool Kids." Steven ignores Lars's jokes and teasing because he knows that deep down he's a good person.

"Trapped Together" reveals that Lars is very scared all the time, and that he doesn't dare to do things outside his comfort zone because he doesn't feel safe; he didn't even dare to make a dessert because it seemed difficult to him.
At the beginning of the episode "Colorless" Lars tries not to be afraid anymore, and that is shown almost at the end, as he faced the robonoids that were trying to destroy the gems, because when he saw that he was the only one who could save them all because he did not have a gemstone, he decided to destroy them all, but as a consequence he ended up dying.
After Steven revived him, Lars became more mature, because knowing that his hair was the only way out of Homeworld, he wanted everyone to leave and he would stay there, but the gems did not accept and decided to stay until they found another way to escape.
