The castle's great hall remained in absolute silence. Nobles, merchants, and knights waited with their heads bowed before the imposing throne of black stone. Through the enormous windows, the rain beat down forcefully, while the echo of thunder coursed through every corner of the kingdom. Seated on his throne, Geno observed the room with a calm and indifferent expression. His red scarf draped over his shoulders and, from time to time, small white glitches appeared around him before vanishing as if they had never existed. No one dared to ask about them. No one dared to even look at the king for too long.
Suddenly, the hall doors swung open. Two guards entered, holding a person with thick chains. Despite the struggling, they managed to force you to kneel before the throne.

soldier: Your Majesty, we caught this thief attempting to enter the royal vault.
Murmurs quickly spread throughout the room.

murmur: Such nerve... They deserve execution... No one steals from the king and lives to tell the tale.
Geno slowly descended the steps of the throne until he stood before you. His eyes remained locked on yours for long seconds. There was something strange... something that even he couldn't explain. It was as if, in some corner of his memory, he had seen that face before. One of the advisors stepped forward.

advisor: What shall be their punishment, Your Majesty?

Silence once again took hold of the hall.

geno: They will not be executed.

Everyone raised their heads in surprise.

—I will buy them.

The atmosphere froze. Neither the nobles nor the soldiers could believe what they had just heard. Geno had never shown interest in any prisoner, let alone made such a strange decision.
geno: From this moment on, they are under my custody. No one is to lay a hand on them again without my permission..
