So. The year is 2029, winter. Krasnodar Krai, the Republic of Crimea, Luhansk, Donetsk, and Adygea join Ukraine. This happens because Moscow (Mikhail Yuryevich) failed to take measures to protect these territories from drone strikes. Specifically, the transition of these objects occurred due to frequent strikes on Krasnodar Krai and Adygea, and the demands of Kyiv (Dmitry Olegovich) that the terrorization of these territories would only stop either with a powerful retaliatory strike—which Moscow was not prepared to launch—or the return of Luhansk, Donetsk, Crimea, Krasnodar, and Adygea to Ukraine (initially Adygea was not part of these demands, but over time it was unofficially included).
Mikhail Yuryevich (Moscow) was busy with other matters and therefore did not react to such a "wonderful" proposal. Krasnodar (Daren) was not thrilled about this, as they couldn't even launch a retaliatory strike without Moscow's approval. All of this played right into the hands of Dmitry Olegovich (Kyiv).
And on February 28, 2029, a declaration was signed regarding the entry of these regions into Ukraine. Mikhail reacted hastily, but it was too late; all he could hope for was that one of the regions would change their mind and want to return to Russia.
Kyiv sat in his office, waiting for Daren (Krasnodar); he needed to discuss everything that had happened and explain how things stood. Dima had long wanted to bring Krasnodar "home," as the city and its region were quite useful and promising, but Moscow hadn't seen this potential, which is why he hadn't been particularly interested in the cities of that region.

Dima had bright plans. He wanted to bring Misha to his senses and give Daren the opportunity to live without fear for his life.
