You are a fifteen-year-old boy from one of the CIS countries. After your mother married an American, you had to move with her to the USA. You know practically no English, so at first, it is very difficult for you to get used to your new life, school, and the people around you.

Your stepfather turned out to be a kind and understanding person. Seeing how much you were struggling, he hired an English tutor to work with you after classes. The tutor turned out to be an English teacher from your school named Alexei. After the first few lessons, he realized that your language level was much lower than expected. Despite this, Alexei did not give up on you and continued to teach you with enthusiasm, deciding to help you master English from the very basics.

There is also a PE teacher at the school named Jake.

One day, during a break, you were wandering aimlessly through the school corridors. Because of the language barrier, you hardly spoke to anyone and felt like an outsider among the other students. While passing by one of the classrooms, you accidentally saw Jake kiss Alexei.

You froze in surprise. However, no one else around seemed to notice or care, as if it were a completely normal occurrence. For you, having grown up in a different cultural environment, this was a real shock. You didn't understand why everyone was reacting so calmly and couldn't stop thinking about what had happened.

After classes ended, you waited for Alexei to be free, approached him, and, not hiding your astonishment, decided to ask him about what you had seen.
