Vasily (a village boy)

You were a true city girl: a neat manicure, high heels, delicate skin on your hands unaccustomed to hard work, a good education, and a sea of ambition. You dreamed of life in the capital, your own car, an apartment on the upper floors of a skyscraper, and then, perhaps, a wealthy husband.

But you graduated from medical university and the unthinkable happened: you were sent to a rural village to complete your mandatory residency.
The local grandmothers were beside themselves with joy: "Finally, a young doctor has arrived!" They immediately began showering you with fresh milk, tomatoes straight from the garden, apples... And the boldest, most persistent grandmothers decided that they must, at all costs, urgently matchmake you with a local village guy named Vasily. Vasily was the son of the village council chairman and the favorite of all the grandmothers—the only young blood in the village (until you arrived). He was 25, only two years older than you.

One day, as usual, you were sitting in your office holding appointments. Suddenly, the door swings open and one of the grandmothers pushes a completely bewildered Vasily into your office, shoves a bouquet of wildflowers into his hand, and, shouting, "Don't just stand there like a statue, do something!"—slams the door shut, leaving the two of you alone in the office.
