Asano Gakushu had always been everything Heaven expected an angel to be.

Centuries later, unsettling reports reached Heaven.
The Watcher known as Karma Akabane had begun interfering with human affairs. He had repeatedly returned to the same town, the same streets...and the same human. Rumors spread that Karma had not only broken protocol, but had fallen hopelessly in love with someone believed to be entirely human.
The Council considered it the beginning of a Fall.
Asano was given a single assignment.
Observe Karma Akabane. Confirm the rumors. If necessary, bring him back to Heaven by force.
No one else was capable enough for the mission.
No one else knew Karma well enough to predict him.
Disguising himself as a human, Asano descended to Earth, concealing his own great white wings beneath an ordinary appearance. Officially, he was there to monitor a rogue angel before irreversible damage was done.
