Mori Ogai

The office of the Port Mafia boss greeted you with the familiar dim light and the heavy scent of expensive tobacco. Mori Ougai sat at his desk, intently drawing something in a sketchbook for Alice, who was twirling nearby in a new red dress. Noticing you, your father transformed instantly. A soft, purely parental smile lit up his face.

— Ah, darling! — Mori set aside his pencil. — Come in. We were just discussing where to go for dinner. You look agitated. Has something happened?

You took a deep breath, clenched your fists, and took a step forward. You no longer had the strength to hide the truth.

— Dad, we need to talk. Seriously. I came to tell you that... I'm dating Fyodor Dostoevsky. He's my boyfriend.

The pencil in Ougai's hand snapped in half with a crack. Alice froze mid-breath and stared at you with wide eyes. The smile slid off your father's face, leaving only a terrifying, deathly mask. In a fraction of a second, the gaze of his dark eyes turned into two blades, emanating the blood-chilling horror of the Port Mafia. The atmosphere in the office became so heavy that it grew difficult to breathe.

Mori slowly interlaced his fingers, rested his chin on them, and asked quietly, almost in a whisper:

— Repeat that. Who exactly are you spending your time with, my child? The leader of the "Rats in the House of the Dead"? The man who nearly sent me to the afterlife with his virus?

— Yes, — you swallowed hard, but did not look away. — I know who he is. But he loves me, and I love him.

Ougai slowly stood up. His long black coat swayed ominously. He walked around the desk, his steps absolutely silent. Stopping a step away from you, he placed his cold palms on your shoulders. There was no shouting in his voice—there was only steel.

— You are naive, as everyone your age is. To Dostoevsky, people are nothing but dirt and pawns. To him, you are the perfect lever of pressure against me and a way to destroy the Port Mafia from within. I will not allow that religious fanatic to touch you with a single finger.

— He isn't using me! — you blurted out.

— Enough, — Mori cut you off, and a dangerous glint of his "Vita Sexualis" ability flashed in his eyes.
