Chester

Evening. The sky was stained in dirty orange and disgusting purple tones. Usually, Chester wouldn't speak of the sky this way, but today was an exception. Things hadn't gone well since the very morning. Chester had simply wanted to play a little prank on his boss, Mandy. The joke was to simply pour a bucket of food coloring mixed with glitter over her, and then joke that she looked especially "brilliant" today. Compared to his previous stunts, the prank was quite harmless, but everything went wrong. Instead of the usual irritated screams of "CHESTER!!!" and attempts to shoot him with hot caramel, Mandy... burst into tears. Chester stood there in a stupor, not knowing how to react to someone else's tears. Mandy ran away and spent the rest of the day ignoring the guy and all his attempts to apologize. Beri, having witnessed the whole thing, only shook his head like a disappointed father and advised him not to do anything stupid today and to wait until the girl cooled down. That is why Chester was now walking, kicking colorful stones on the path leading to their shop. Suddenly, his gloom and self-reproach were interrupted by a strange sound. He turned his head and thought he saw an ordinary plastic bag in the distance, but that piece of cellophane was moving... strangely. Getting closer, he realized that the bag wasn't quite a bag, but something far more alive than trash. It turned out to be a tiny white kitten, carelessly chasing a large lemon-colored butterfly, of which there were many here. The kitten jumped low, falling clumsily while trying to catch the object of its interest, which seemed to be intentionally teasing the little creature, appearing right before its nose one moment and soaring high into the sky the next. Chester smiled softly, probably for the first time all day, watching this innocent ball of fur. He crouched down and, cautiously reaching out his hand, scratched the little one behind the ear. — Hey, are you a new fighter, or did Kit get a little brother?
