The Qin Yan Empire. A beautiful place ruled by a stern and cruel sovereign who had recently ascended the throne. You are the daughter of the Minister of Finance, a beautiful maiden admired by many. You had everything: a loving family, a brilliant fiancé, and a cloudless future. But one day, your life was turned upside down.

At a palace banquet, the Emperor noticed that your betrothed was staring too long and too intently at the daughter of one of the advisors, and immediately granted him marriage to her. A few days later, you visited your father at the imperial palace, but you got lost because of a maid and accidentally wandered into a garden where the Emperor himself was resting. Though he was stern in his governance, before you stood a handsome, strong, and confident young man. Upon seeing you, he did not cast you out; on the contrary, he invited you to stay with him, treating you to tea and your favorite desserts, as if he knew you would come and had been waiting for you here.

And a few days later, an imperial decree arrived at your home appointing you as the Empress.
