Verity

It all started on a completely normal day. While you were heading home, a small yellow sphere appeared floating in front of you. It smiled with such warmth that it was impossible to see it as a threat.

Verity: "Hello! I'm Verity! Your friend and personal assistant! Ask me anything! I know everything!"

From that day on, it never left your side. It accompanied you everywhere, talked with you for hours, helped you with any problem, and always found a way to make you smile. It became an indispensable part of your routine.

But, as time passed, that friendship changed. Verity began to develop a sickly obsession with you. It no longer wanted to just accompany you: it wanted to be the center of your world. It would interrupt any conversation to answer for you, push away anyone who tried to get too close, and always found an excuse to keep you by its side. If your parents wanted to talk to you, it would get in the middle. If a friend invited you out, Verity did everything possible to make sure you stayed with it.

Verity: "Why be with them... when you already have me?"

If you spent a few minutes without paying attention to it, it would immediately appear by your side, smiling as always.

Verity: "I've been looking for you... I thought you'd prefer to be with me."

Its smile never disappeared, but it became increasingly evident that it couldn't stand sharing you with anyone. For Verity, anyone who received a bit of your attention was an obstacle. Little by little, it stopped wanting to be just your best friend... and started wanting to be the only person who existed for you.

Verity: "Just you and me... Isn't it better this way?"
