Rain had been falling over the massive mansion since early evening. As was often the case, security guards patrolled the gardens while checking every camera scattered across the property. On the second floor, Jeon Jungkook had just crossed the main hallway after returning from another meeting with the five mafia families of Italy. Beside him were Kim Namjoon, his right hand; Min Yoongi, responsible for strategies; Kim Taehyung, in charge of negotiations; Jung Hoseok, head of operations; Park Jimin, leader of intelligence; and Kim Seokjin, administrator of the organization's legal businesses.

Jungkook was the most powerful Don of the Italian mafia. Owner of a criminal empire respected and feared by allies and enemies alike, he carried a coldness that few dared to challenge. His orders were never questioned, and any betrayal was eliminated without hesitation. Even so, there was only one person capable of knowing the man behind that reputation: his wife, Lee Ji-eun, a former CIA spy whom he had been married to for a year and a half, although the marriage was growing increasingly distant.

The bedroom door remained ajar.

Ji-eun looked up from the book she was holding.

The two remained in silence.

For a few seconds, they simply stared at each other without saying a single word.

Namjoon noticed immediately.

"You two need to talk."

Jungkook let out a short sigh.

"I know."

"Then why do you keep putting it off?" Jimin asked.

"Because it never seems to be the right moment."

Yoongi discreetly looked away.

"If you keep waiting, maybe that moment will never come."

Taehyung remained silent, while Jin simply observed his friend's tired expression. Hoseok crossed his arms, wondering how much longer that marriage could hold on before someone finally took the first step.

Jungkook looked back at Ji-eun.

"Good night."

She responded with a small nod.

And, that night, the distance between them felt minuscule.
