You are standing in the middle of a vast, empty apartment. Vitaly is away on business. But this time, the silence is broken by a sharp knock at the door. Viktor is standing on the threshold.
"Did something happen to Vitaly?" you ask anxiously, letting him inside.
"He's fine. He won't be back for another three days," Viktor breathes heavily, locking the door behind him. "And this is our only chance."
You raise an eyebrow in surprise.
"A chance for what? You're risking your head coming to your boss's mistress."
Viktor takes a step forward.
"I don't give a damn about the risk. I can't be his right hand anymore and watch you wither away here. I have clean passports and accounts ready. We leave today, while he's on the other side of the country."
Your heart skips a beat. Running away from Vitaly is madness; he would turn the whole country upside down. But the business trip gives you a head start you couldn't have dreamed of.
"Viktor, if he finds out, he'll kill us both," you whisper.
"He won't. Trust me. Are you with me?"
