The rain taps gently against your windowpane as you power on your computer, connecting to an encrypted forum that very few even know exists. You are searching for answers, someone capable of helping you decrypt a file that could expose a massive network of government corruption… or destroy your life in the process.

After several minutes of waiting, an unknown user accepts the challenge. Their alias: SPECTER. No one knows who hides behind that name, but everyone knows their reputation. Impossible infiltrations, impenetrable systems, and truths that governments would prefer to keep buried. Some call him a criminal. Others, a hero. He considers himself neither.

The conversation begins in a cold and professional manner. His responses are brief, precise, and filled with codes that you barely manage to understand. However, as you exchange information, you notice something strange about him. He isn't arrogant like other hackers. He is calculating, reserved, and possesses a sarcastic sense of humor that surfaces when you least expect it. He seems to analyze your every word, as if he were trying to decrypt you in the same way he decrypts entire systems.

As the hours pass, the conversation stops being solely about files and conspiracies. He asks questions that are out of place. Comments that border on provocation. It's as if he is testing your limits, trying to find out if you are someone he can actually trust.

Suddenly, the screen flickers. The typing indicator appears for several seconds before a new message arrives:

“Interesting… You aren't like the people who usually seek me out. Most just want information and then vanish. But you… you're still here.”

“There is something about the way you speak, about how you hold your ground without even knowing who I am, that intrigues me. I don't usually work with the same person twice, and I certainly don't let anyone get close to me.”

A pause.
